Magic - Mastery of Earth and Metal schools, GolemancyLocation
Rebecca is one of the most recent to be born into the Stoneheart clan, a small but noble order of Earth mages and scholars throughout Europe. Rebecca inherited the strong aptitudes in magic from her parents, displaying the possibility of perhaps being one of the most promising sorcerers of her clan.
Naturally she was taught in all forms of Earth magic, and schooled in all subjects of geology and other Earth-related subjects. Eventually, however, she found a childlike interest especially in shaping clay figures and animating them with magic to play with them. The basics of golemancy she would soon find great interest in undertaking delving further into then any other focus of Earth magic studies. Soon she could forge powerful humanoid rock fighters with magic and stone, or create animated carts from solid slabs of rock, with wheels that spun on their own.
Though kept mostly secluded from the world of humans outside her clan, however, Rebecca would one day grow a strange interest in the workings and advancements of them, though they were detrimental to the continued knowledge and discovery of her magics, or perhaps even a threat to her kind with magic being labeled as blasphemy or evil by Christians throughout Europe.
With the rise of technology, Rebecca found herself fascinated by machines of all sorts, which were much like her golems, but controlled by computers and remote controls. Interested in learning how normal humans had come to discover this fascinating ability, she went to college to learn all she could about mechanical engineering, while at the same time she branched her magical knowledge into the Metal school.
Eventually, she would earn a Bachelors in her field, but more importantly, she learned how to combine the raw sorcery or Metal magic with her knowledge of engineering to create golems (automatons) that seemed exactly like robots the humans made, but her use of magic to control her machines allowed far more capability then what regular robots and machines could allow. Naturally, these creations were kept secret, but granted her insights into engineering that mere humans would consider cutting edge.
However, the Stoneheart clan would quickly disown her for these actions, each step advancing her contrary to the teachings of Stonehearts before her. Though the new knowledge she had acquired had perhaps advanced her far beyond the traditional magics of the Earth mages of her clan, they could no longer support her goals knowing she had mixed it with the dangerous advancements of technology and science.
Rebecca, now a magician far distanced from Stoneheart's magics, and unable to ever again associate with her family, changed her surname to Ironheart, and would start her own pursuits in this mesh of sorcery and engineering she had created, with it a business to both gain acceptance among humankind, and to fund her insatiable drive to perfect her magics, and her machines.Occupation
Rebecca works a roboticist and mechanic. She owns her own small business, Ironheart Automations, where she designs robots for use in industrial (and military) applications, Most of her work is contract work designing robots for manufacturing corporations, but because she is a brilliant mechanic as well, she's often asked to repair or improve machines of all sorts. On the side, a few countries and organizations also have contracts robots that can have a combat or military use.
Naturally, all the contract work has made her quite wealthy. Mechanic work she's asked to do tends to pay less, but she only really does it out of enjoyment rather then money, and sometimes she does it for free for this very reason.
Rebecca's magic workshop lies hidden just under her business, essentially allowing her seclusion where it would be least expected: in the middle of civilization itself. It is here where her automatons are also kept, as well as provide a means within her own business to produce parts for her machines. Naturally, the automatons aid in construction and assembly of machines she produces. Aside from being hidden, it also allows great protection from the discovery of her secrets of both her business and her magic workshop with security systems set in place to prevent intruders. The entrance to her magic workshop also requires the ability to shape solid metal in the first place, thus preventing further intrusion.Personality:
Rebecca is a highly driven individual. She is very dedicated to her work, so much so that when she is not busy doing work for someone else, she is usually working on one of her own projects. She highly enjoys her work, given it is in line with her research and study in magic. Being a magician that needs no food nor sleep, her work gets done very quickly.
Outside of her business life, she has very few acquaintances, and since most of her free time goes back to doing magic research and creating automatons, she is rather reclusive, entertaining herself with her work, or her 'work'.
Despite having no real friends, she is still very social due to her work life, having to deal with all sorts of people who need her services. Being so driven, she's always eager to help anyone who requires help anything mechanical in nature. If it's some kind of machine she doesn't recognize (which is quite rare), she'll even offer to help with it for free, just for the chance to study it.
Rebecca will generally help people in need, regardless of if it's related to her job or not. Not out of compulsion or pity or recognition or other selfish reasons, but because it usually serves as a interesting change of pace.
Rebecca also enjoys being recognized, and is proud of achievements she can manage. Not to an extreme extent to where she is always showing off, but won't hesitate to mention something she might be recognized for if someone in her field of work is interested, or if she introduces herself.
Rebecca is also somewhat of a control freak in her own environment, even somewhat to the point of slight megalomania. Often she would rather rely on her own automatons to help her with tasks then any actual other individuals, and will take charge in any situation that is related to her line of work or her fields of magic.Powers: Magic
Rebecca is a magician, having all the benefits of magicians such as no need to sleep or eat, but is only focused in select schools of magic.Mastery of Earth and Metal
Rebecca was first an Earth Magician like her predecessors before her, but now has equal mastery of Metal magic as well as Earth magic, and the magic that falls between the two. Her main use of these schools of magic is to shape and manipulate the properties of natural, solid materials of all kinds. With enough raw material she can craft almost any sort of object just by shaping the materials into whatever she requires.
Rebecca could turn a lump of metal into a blade as sharp as what a master smith could craft, and then use diamonds and earth magic to hone the blade even further.
Virtually all her projects involve primarily shaping metal into machine parts for her automatons.Machine Golemancy: Creation and Control of Automatons
From her machines, Rebecca breathes life. She doesn't need programming languages or remote controls, as she simply animates her machines into Automatons. Automatons are semi-sentient, not having a true mind or thoughts of their own, but rather controlled by and bent towards Rebecca's will. Her Automatons often help her in her daily tasks and work. Her favorite automatons are mobile robotic arms, which she has several of, which act as extra hands when she is sitting down hard at work in her workshop creating or designing other robots.
Not to say that Rebecca cannot program a robot or hard-wire it to a remote control. In fact, she often does this just to keep up the appearance that she's just an ordinary roboticist.
Rebecca's ultimate goal is to build the perfect automaton. Not a truly sentient one (she has little interest in giving her creations true sentience), but one that can do any task and serve any need.RelationshipsMajor:
- (Character)Trivia / Notes / Other:
Rebecca occasionally participates in various robot fighting arena competitions with some of her automatons. Of course, they're disguised to appear she's using a controller to direct them rather then magic... Usually, she wins these competitions, and has become somewhat well known for it.
